My Day

Our daily routine is planned around a six hour day and the EYFS Characteristics of Effective Learning. Continuous provision runs throughout the day, with children having choice on the activities and resources they can access, with planned small and large group times during each session providing maximum opportunities and experiences throughout the day.

We have start times of either 8.30am or 9.00am.

A group circle time takes places at 9.15am which is a lovely morning get together where a register is taken and we talk about our day, our feelings and even sing a song or two!

At 10am we have a snack bar that opens offering a healthy snack including fresh fruit and/or vegetables. Snacks are provided free of charge and children are free to choose and help to chop whatever is being offered. We always encourage good hand washing (and drying!) before snack time and even have a little song to help us.

Lunchtime begins at 12pm following a tidy up time in which all children are encouraged to take part. We sit down for a group activity then talk to all children about who may be staying for lunch and who is going home.

Those children going home at 12pm will stay and play until they are collected and the other children get ready for lunch box time.

All children that stay for lunch require a lunch box filled with healthy foods and a drink. Please NO NUTS in your child's lunchbox.

Following on from lunchtime we choose where to play, this may be outside in our wonderful outdoor space or inside choosing an activity.

Children may finish their day at either 1pm or 3pm. We have another snack time in the afternoon. Those children starting the afternoon session at 12.30pm enjoy taking part in a group time with afternoon register followed by snack time with their friends just after 1pm.

We always finish the day with a few songs and one of our favourites is;

"We are sharing, We are sharing,

With our friends, With our friends,

Sharing makes us happy, Sharing makes us happy,

Its good to share, Shows we care".

How parents can take part in the preschool

The Preschool Learning Alliance recognises parents as the first and most important educators of their young children. We welcome all parents / carers to help at Hatch Warren Under Fives. You can do this by asking a member of the team to stay and play at any time. We will ask that you leave your mobile phone away from the setting (or we can lock it away for you) and run through a brief health and safety checklist, respect our confidentiality and have fun!
